Finding Bigfoot is a performative research installation focused on belief systems in relationship to social in groups. I became interested in Bigfoot after discovering a dataset of over 5,000 Bigfoot sightings from The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFO) organized by Tim Renner. To begin ideation, I built and designed the structure of a lab suited for the search, using digital fabrication, machine perception, and hands-on experimentation to understand how to pursue Bigfoot. Although it originated as an amusing idea of making myself believe in Bigfoot, it later developed into an obsession with the creature. My marked transformation of mindset prompted me to consider the conflicts among different individuals’ truths, and I hope Finding Bigfoot does the same for its viewers.
